February 2014 Passenger Statistics
February 2014 again saw a substantial increase in passenger volume by 20.3%. The bulk of the increase came from Allegiant which had an increase of 31.6%. This can be attributed to PGD and also an increase in seats from utilizing 176 seat A320 aircraft on the SFB and PIE routes. Allegiant saw an increase in available seats by 32.4%.
Not to be out done, American Airlines operated by American Eagle also posted a double digit increase in passenger volume. Even with a decline in available seats by 20%, the amount of passengers increased by 11.3% over February 2013. American recorded an impressive load factor of 83.2% which was approximately 5% points higher than systemwide for the same month.
The rest of the year, we expect the passsenger volumes to be flat to slightly up due to reduced available seats by American and a slight increase in available seats by Allegiant, with current posted schedules through fall.
